Application for Water, Air ....

English-only readers, do you know that "Water" in Malay is "Air" ....
Title says it all, this post is about Water, or rather SYABAS, the Selangor state water supplier.

It appears that if water supply had been disconnected or terminated for more than six months (in my case, it was more than 2 years), you need a certified / registered plumber to check the plumbing system and apply to SYABAS on your behalf.

I was given this list of plumbers to call for such "service" ...

First plumber wanted to charge me RM 380 just for 'service' stating reasons like, oh, we need to get SYABAS guys to check and it will take 2-3 days blah ... blah... and this is excluding deposit and meter installation charges. A quick sum, it will cost me RM 380 + RM 100 (deposit) + RM 30 (meter) = RM 510 just to get water!

Second plumber was more reasonable, RM 300 for "service", deposit and meter installation charges included! Guess what? I gave him the money on Thursday and got the meter installed on Friday afternoon! Yahooo.....

I still don't get it, why SYABAS wants to force us to take up such "service"?
If it is for commercial buildings, I understand BUT for a domestic, household user like us? Why? Why?
