Monday in Memory of Tata & Meow Kung

It is hard for me to write this.
I've been putting this off for several weeks (months, in case of Meow Kung) - I am just not good when it comes to writing about loss of furry ones, strays or not. Most of them have names in my heart. It may be just a simple Meow Kung, which means "Mancat", in Cantonese.

Meow Kung passed on several months ago, we found him almost lifeless near our letter box.
He had not been well days before.
Being an alley cat, life can be difficult. Meow Kung was a stray (or rather pre-owned, as he was "fixed" with a collar - his owner moved away) from our previous rented place. He knew that we were moving and was adamant to stay within our sight while we loaded our stuffs to our van. Despite the noise, he remained - the other cat slave then said, "Hey, wanna come along?" - Meow Kung hopped into our van. He "meowed" the whole journey (which was only a 5-minutes drive) and as soon as we let him out - he had a new home. He was always there at our porch waiting for us to come home from work - he never fought with others for food - he was real MANCAT, a gentle one with manners, except when he bit me!

I still remember how he used to "stalk" me, funny.
I will remember you always.

And,

Tata, also known as Pataya - named after my dinner of "Nasi Goreng Pataya" - he bloomed or ballooned into a very handsome MANCAT, until he had this problem with constipation. We took him to the vet for a rectal edema and his health went bottom after that.
He passed away peacefully about 2 weeks ago.

It is still so fresh in my mind, using Tata as my "covershot" for CNY greeting this year - Tiger ... grrrr ... Oh god, I do miss him.

A Bodhisattva Prayer

From now on, until I achieve enlightenment, I rely on you.
Please give me wisdom to escape samsara.

If I am supposed to get sick, let me get sick, and I’ll be happy.
May this sickness purify my negative karma
and the sickness of all sentient beings

If I am supposed to be healed, let all my sickness
and confusion be healed, and I’ll be happy.
May all sentient beings be healed and filled with happiness.

If I am supposed to die, let me die, and I’ll be happy.
May all the delusion and causes of suffering of beings die.

If I am supposed to live a long life, let me live a long life, and I’ll be happy.
May my life be meaningful in service to sentient beings.

If my life is cut short, let it be cut short, and I’ll be happy.
May I and all others be free from attachment and aversion.

My Fu-Lions ....

Three of my many Fu-Lions - celestial guardians sent from heaven above!

So, what about Fu-Lions?

Chinese guardian lions, also called Fu (Foo) Lions, lions of Buddha, or sometimes stone lions (石獅, Pinyin: Shíshī) in Chinese art[1], are a common representation of the lion in pre-modern China, which is believed to have powerful mythic protective powers that has traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, temples, emperors' tombs, government offices, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), until the end of the empire in 1911.

Lions of Fo are always created in pairs, with the male playing with a ball and the female with a cub. They occur in many types of Chinese pottery and in Western imitations[2].

Pairs of Chinese guardian lions, also called Chinese stone lions are still common decorative and symbolic elements at the entrances to restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and other structures, with one sitting on each side of the entrance, in China and in other places around the world where the Chinese people have immigrated and settled, especially in local Chinatowns.

P:S: My "Fu-Lions" are alley cats we feed! The above 3 are the more permanent ones, rest are becoming more "permanent"! :)

Sly's Dad (first pix) new one, don't know where he came from but he is tame, probably someone's pet previously..

Meow Kung (second pix) was a stray we took along when we moved here ...

Kiki (third pix) was a feral cat of the block who is now super-loving!

Cats, Car and Crash ...

Today is my typical Saturday, I'd usually ignore my hubby call to wake up for breakfast, unless he utter the words, "I belanja laa ...", or "Dim Sum" ...., otherwise, only me, myself can wake myself up ...

Woke up at around 10 am ....
Feed the cats ....
Scoop their poo and pee ...
Scream, trying to find who's responsible for the "deposit" on my floor mat ...

Then, open front door, to be greeted by Meow Kung, Darkie, Fire, WinWin, Mao Na and "noname", a bit odd today as I didn't see another stray meowmmy with her kittens and Tai Kor of the street ... anyway .... as usual ... about 250gm of cat kibbles for the morning session ...

I then confined TIGER in a cage for a trip to the vets ... why? Tiger is turning into a botak-head, like GARLIC ...
I brought GARLIC to the vet last Tuesday, the doc found traces of mites and she is now on Ivermectin treatment, one injection a week for 3 continuous weeks. The doc weighed her and she is 4.58kg!!!
Anyway, this is how GARLIC looks today ... still bald, probably she is turning into a Sphynx .... wow ...

As you can see, I've got a new "Kura-Kura on Board" for my 14-yr old white kancil ...

TIGER and her bald spots, not as obvious as GARLIC's ..

The vet was not able to find mites on TIGER, so, she thinks it may be fungal and I'd have to continue bathing her with a special shampoo. It may take a while before TIGER's hair grows back... sigh . .. I seriously dislike bathing cats, I don't even like bathing myself ... sigh ....
Reaching home, I tried to reverse park my very little kancil ...
reverse....reverse ....
****bang .... crash ****

Damnit! Why did TALAM build a pillar there!
Damnit ... I crashed into my own house porch pillar! I know my neighbours heard it! So to avoid them asking me, "Terlanggar ke?" ... I sat in the car for 5 minutes, make sure they were IN their house before getting out of the car ..... Damn ...

Anti-Tetanus Jab .....

Good news, eyes are okay, I am not colour blind! Yippeee....

Not-so-good-news, I waited 3 hours at ER just to see the doctor ....

Good news, the doctor took me off the antibiotic and jab me with Anti-Tetanus ...

Not-so-good-news, still having my muscle cramps (or spasm??)

Not-so-good-news, googled "Tetanus" and realised that its symptoms include muscle spasm???

Why did they not give me the Anti-Tetanus jab in the first place??? Hmmmm.....

Good news, I will survive ...

Thank you Meow Kung ...

Meow Kung Pissed ...

Meow Kung got pissed with me during the weekend and bit me! He sank his fangs into my wrist and it bled ... "All I can think of is .... "that's it, I've got RABIES!"

I screamed in pain and gave him a smack on his head. He looked apologetic.

Meow Kung is probably unhappy over a new visitor at home, a new SALEM look-a-like stray.

Stalker - Meow Kung (= Kucing Jantan)

Stalker Meow Kung has started camping outside my house.
Now, he is a step further, he follows me whenever I go to get my food from the nearest petrol station (yes, I feed on petrol :D) ...
He seems to sense that we are moving away and has not left our sights for the past few days, meowing loudly, looking at us pitifully, as though telling us, "Don't forget me ya ... "

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Presenting - my "stalker" ... :)

Thursday, February 05, 2009

I am being "stalked" ....

No joke, I see this stalker everytime I open my front door, back door ...
Yesterday night, he was on the roof, looking at me ....
I am afraid, very afraid .....
