Nephro Says... Rheumy Says ...

Wolfie Says ... "Don't worry Mom, SpiderMeow is here"

I'm very depressed.
Nephro thinks I'm okay,
Rheumy thinks I'm not,
My steroid is upped again.

I almost snapped at the doctor.
I said I don't want my steroid upped
(to 12.5mg frm 7.5mg)
Up, Down, Up, Down
I almost, almost cried.
I felt like Alice in Wonderland.

Is this real, is this pretend?
I'll get by,
I'll survive.
(Avril Lavigne - Alice)

Then, doc mentioned "stroke" - Risk of stroke.
And he said he is not trying to scare me.
Headaches, dizziness, migraine, low potassium ..

600mg Potassium Chloride ... big yummy yellow candy on a daily basis ... yay!

Welcome to My Wonderland...
You can call me Alice.

Bin your doctor keeps changing his mind - can you not ask to see a different doctor for their opinion? It could perhaps settle your mind that it's not your doctor's whim.
Thank goodness for SpiderMeow rushing to take care of you. We feel sure you are in the care of very capable paws.

Getting at least one other opinion is a good idea, if you can. Hannah and Lucy and Mum Sue are right; it would help ease your mind.

It's so tiresome and hard to always have to advocate for yourself, isn't it?

Lots of (((hugs))) and Light.

I agree with everyone, you must be proactive and insist on some answers. A 50% increase in meds is a LOT!
Thank goodness you have SpiderMeow. Maybe take hin to the next appointment?

Bin I am so sorry you are going through all this! I wish I had some good advice - I wish I could help you feel better! When I was young, I had stomach problems - obviously nothing like you are going through, but it was so bad, it felt like a heart attack. It took 6 years to get a diagnosis and I only got that because I finally got fed up and forced the issue - and even then, I had someone say to me that it sounded like gallbladder issues and when I brought that suggestion to my doctor she looked me dead in the eye and said that there was no way it could be gallbladder - but when I saw the specialist she wanted me to see (because she wanted me to get a scope) and mentioned it to him he said that yes, it did sound like that and had me do an ultrasound - guess what - it was gallbladder problems. I guess my point is that it sucks when your doctors don't listen to you, and sometimes you do have to push it - even if that is tough to do - to get answers.

Anyway, Wolfie looks adorable as SpiderMeow - I know he will do his best to cheer you up, as will all your other furry babies. I hope they can agree on something soon - sometimes doctors are just jerks.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this Bin!! You are obviously feeling incredibly unwell and you only you know what works for your illness - I think changing your medical dosage so many times can't be helping you. You need to stabilise your already very delicate condition. Please please stick to your gut feeling about your medications.

I remember my doctor changing one of the meds I knew was working for me for another and what can I do, I agreed and 6 months later my results were very bad so I begged to return to my former meds. I knew she was wrong but I let her have her way and now I'm having to start again from scratch after all that hard work!!!

I say you must make the docs listen to you too. Sweet Wolfie will protect you not to worry!!

Take care
x

Admiral's Mom here: I am so so sorry to read this, my dear friend. Spider Meow looks fabulous and I think the Admiral may be starting a crush on him-- but hard as he tries he can only love you to help you.

I hope you are in a position to request and get another opinion. I wish some of us were there to help and support you but we can try to do that from here.

Know that I care and I will put you on my prayer list.

Love and hugs to you, dear friend.

I agree with everyone else, lovely Bin=you need and deserve another medical opinion to make sure you are getting the best care available...I know it is frustrating and upsetting to your mind and body to keep changing your meds and feeling like you never make any real progress with your recovery from illness AND medicine side effects...I sincerely hope you can find a doctor who will really listen to you and take your concerns into account when prescribing a stable med. regimen...Best of luck, sweet Bin, I mean Alice :)=sending you lots of love and big hugs, wonderful friend=hang in there, sweetie...xoxo...J

SpiderMeow is adorable and not fat, just awesomely floofy!...As always, sending big smoochies to our special friends, especially our handsome mancat, Lucky...Calle, Halle, Sukki

That's awful. I think you need to make it clear to the doctor you WANT proper explainations as to why there's a need to up the medication. Times have changed and you must be proactive as this is YOUR health. Can you get a second opinion?

Gosh...risk of stroke? The trouble with Selayang Hospital is that we don't have a doctor to call our 'own'. Well, maybe you have, considering yours is a different case, but mum is shuffled from doctor to doctor.

When we tried asking for a 2nd opinion (by making a separate appointment), we were told this doctor would ask the previous about his opinion. He then returned to his room where we were waiting and he repeated the other doctor's opinion. When we asked what was his personal opinion, he said, "you saw my colleague the other time, and this is what he said". End of matter where he is concerned. Some 2nd opinion! Huh!

We are furry sorry to hear of your continued concerns and frustrations with your healthcare 'team'. I know I was 'fired' by a surgeon once because I asked too many questions and he said I didn't have confidence in him...I was glad that happened because I then found a wonderful surgeon who answered all my questions...

Owh... That is not good :(
Maybe u shud seek 2nd opinion?

I'm so very sorry. I don't know much about Lupus, but it seems like it's a disease that is tough to manage. I'm glad that SpiderMeow is there to help you out. :)

My cats stopped by to visit,(Spyder, Sissy, Queen Bambi and Ninja) now I'm here, to introduce myself. I also have some autoimmune disease issues. Please know I understand. This week I'm on prednisone. I've had it upped and downed for years. Truly it's nasty med, but I love it too, since it improves the quality of my life when it's been going down hill. Do you know about the spoon theory written by another Lupus patient? http://tinyurl.com/33ga8xx
I found it so helpful when feeling alone and misunderstood by others.
