When I'm a little (vertically, horizontally ..) girl, I dreamed of having a Barbie doll of my own.
I wanted to be as pretty as Barbie, I wanted to stroke her hair, dress her - I am sick of having cut-out cardboard girls and dressing them with another cut-out 'clothes' as they were FLAT. :)
The only thing separating me and my Barbie then, was the 'price tag' (and of course, my mom too! hehe)
I was a green monster, envious of my cousin sister who has so many Barbie dolls to play with. I get to wear her 'used' clothes and deep inside I've always wished for a pre-loved, free Barbie. Never happened.
Well, that's not what I wanted to talk about.
Not too long ago, I googled for an ex-classmate's name and was somehow directed to this blog with a scanned article of my ex-classmate with a 600 dolls collection and HE, yes he, still looks very much the same!
Okay, again this is not what I wanted to write about, but the 'blogger' - Brendan, who wrote about my ex-classmate - http://ntsocialism.blogspot.com/.
++ It is the blogger who wrote about my ex-classmate who had passed on ..... not my ex-classmate. Sorry for the confusion. I am confused all the time, thus my writings are just as confusing ++
Being nosy as usual, I started moving on to other entries and then realised that Brendan was battling with Chondrosarcome, malignant bone marrow.
What started out as a splitting one-month headache, thought to be a benign brain tumour at first, turned out to be cancerous.
He started his blog, hip, happy and fun. It ended up as a personal medical journal. I admire him for sharing with others his journey. I admire his strength and belief in God.
The only surety in his blog is God, The only certainty is God.
His last entry was July-2009, as he gets ready for a major surgery. Nothing after that.
Now, this comes the weird part as I am typing this, five minutes ago, I googled his real name "Kavern Leng" today is his first 'passing on' Anniversary.
And of all day, today I suddenly decided to write about him!
Spooky... Hmmmm........ Hmmmmm.......
P:S: Title makes no sense ... nevermind!

May he rest in peace. I think i read that article too.
I am so so sorry to hear about this young man. I'm glad he was able to indulge in his passion for collecting dolls.
I really like those cut out dolls and accompanying clothes with the little tags on them!!
I tended to erm.. destroy my other dolls with vigorous play! LOL!! I was a gruesome child!
Take care

I think it was very cosmic, the way you found the article and his blog, his journey...then the anniversary of his death (today).
As for Barbie, the only one I had was Malibu Barbie. Oh, I did have a Ken too. And the psychedelic camper (I grew up in the 1970s).
Our old farmhouse kitchen had two sinks: One VERY, VERY deep, and one very shallow. If I filled the deep sink right up to the top, Barbie would float--bob up and down, mostly upright. But not in less water than that. :-P

Thanks Lupie for sending so many purrs and headbutts to make us feel comforted and much loved.
Mmm, wonder what happened to all his dolls.
Aiyooyoyoyo ...
My ex-classmate is still very much alive.
The guy - blogger (Brendan, Kavern Leng) who wrote about him had passed on.
Aiyyoyoyoy .. my bad, badly structured English!

So sorry to hear about your classmate, he was so young, a real tragedy...Wishing you comfort as you deal with this information and as you deal with your own hardships associated with your illness, sweet Bin...We hope you and your babies enjoy a happy weekend together...xoxo, extra kisses for our Lucky...J, Calle, Halle, Sukki
So I guess it's good news that your ex-classmate is still alive and well and will continue to collect his dolls. :)
May Brendan / Kavern Leng rest in peace.
It's funny how things work out sometimes, don't they?
